After 5 years and 60k miles of brilliant, rewarding, reliable, lovable, daily, fast and surprisingly excellent ownership, my glossy black N reg 850R estate has blown a head gasket. It's the first time it's let me down in all this time, and I'm genuinely heart-broken. Poor thing, it looks so sad outside, not being used. I've literally just last week retaxed, MOT'd and put new tyres on him too. It's funny how attached you can become to things, isn't it? I'd honestly rather the wife blew up.

Anyway- homicidal spousal thoughts aside- I don't have the money laying around to get it fixed, and after pulling the head off myself to attempt the job (I'm an engineer by trade) I now realize that I'm out of my depth, so am going to have to sell him.

Does anyone have any ideas where the best place would be to sell such a thing? I'm not sure I can face someone come to drag it away with a view of breaking it, I'd really like someone to repair it and make him well and as awesome as he was last week again. Does anyone have any ideas? Please?

If it helps at all, he's a manual, in good condition, 172k, full service history, stacks of paperwork and extras, strut brace, BOV, ECU, panel filter, etc. etc.

Anything anyone could suggest would be gratefully received. I'm based near Norwich, by the way.

Thanks in advance, please help

Nervy.

Cool I'll drop you a mail later when I'm not my phone - worth repairing if you can stomach the cost - you absolutely sure it's HG failure?

Yep. Local garage and AA diagnosed it, and my compression tests confirm it.

Thank you!

As of today The 850R is alive and well! had an issue with the alternator pulley not sitting right and an oil leak, a bit of tinkering this afternoon and all is well! Even found out it has been re-mapped in the past which neither me or the chap i got it off knew about !
