Quick servicing question. Does anyone have any advice regarding HT leads for the 2.3 T5 engine (for a manual 850R)... is it worth getting high performance leads / plugs or will the £25 Bosch http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VOLVO-850-R-T5-T5R-09-93... do the job fine?

Likewise, anyone tried these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VOLVO-850-R-Wagon-246BHP... ??

FWIW my advice would be to use standard Volvo plugs and leads.

Parts for Volvos sell Bougicord leads cheaper than the dealer, and these are the genuine item without the branding.

I know of many people running standard plugs & leads in quite highly modified t5's without any issues.

Yes, what he said, get the factory Bougicord. I got mine from Braydon Motors, as PFV didn't have them in stock, and found Braydon, who were slightly cheaper.

Fit standard leads - I've run T5's on Delco leads designed for the 2.0 non turbo and they are much much cheaper and do the job just fine.

Couldn't resist trying the Bosch ones from Ebay (link above) as a gamble for £25. They seem fine and although look slightly different (no nice round seal on spark plug end like Volvo ones) they appear to have transformed the performance, helped by new plugs too biggrin

You will not go wrong dealing with Braydon Motor Company in E5 for pretty much anything be it new or used, Volvo or aftermarket stuff.

If you have replaced some very tired HT leads with new you should notice a difference, as you will with plugs, distributor cap and rotor arm on these older cars, they all have an adverse effect on achieving boost, with much higher mileage it is also worth checking fuel pressure to monitor the condition of the in-tank pump.
