V70 D5.

Just had a late recall done at the dealer, who did a free "health check" at the same time.

Seems my swirl flap linkage has fallen off.

This is a small plastic rod that probably costs a couple of quid, but the manifold and injectors have to be removed to get at one end, at a cost of £700.

This was followed by a warning that an injector might be corroded fast, in which case it's head off and away to an engineer to remove the injector(s)....cost = £4000.

Am I having my chain pulled? The rod is missing, I've checked it on another car.

Lots of stuff there, thanks. It appears my dealer has his arse out of the window with a price of £700.

Swirl flaps and DPF are a few of the reasons im happy to have a 163 over a 185.
My son recently bought an 08 plate 2.4, which the dealer today confirmed being 163bhp.

On inspecting his engine, that too has the crappy link and DPF.

I replaced an injector on my D5 (2002 163bhp) a few months ago.

Doddle really, it came out easy peasy.

Glad to hear that. Are they as expensive as Ford injectors?

Got it form here

Cost about £165 I think.

Does yours actually need injectors though? Not clear from your post. If it's running fine then leave them alone.

No it doesn't. The dealer said they had to remove the injectors to get at the engine end of the link. I didn't understand this, and I think he didn't either...hehe

Just curious about the cost of injectors. Ford charge about £400 for one injector, according to the independent diesel bod who sold me a couple he'd reconditioned for half that price.

Get a quote from a local garage - they won't be charging the £70+ per hour for labour - most local garages will charge about 30quid per hour
