V70 Heavy steering

Here we go again. V70 T5 2000 (new body shape) after prolonged (more than 20 miles) motorway driving when you come off the motorway steering becomes very heavy and inconsistent across the lock. Next day all back to normal until you go onto a motorway again. Anyone any thoughts?

Sounds like some sort of air lock / leak / other issue in the PAS circuit,

Could be the rack on the way out - not uncommon - get a salvage item if it needs replacing as they are around £400 new

Could be a faulty pas reservoir,the return pipe inside has a small l shaped plastic elbow that returns the fluid below the oil level to stop the fluid aireating.

The pipe can fall of inside the reservoir.

Thanks Guys. The PAS reservoir was replaced at 90k and I've checked it again and everything looks OK. I've had a quote for a new rack fo between £200 and £250 so I just need to be a bit more confident in the diagnosis.

Is that a recon rack or new?
