Volvo V60 - who has one and what do you think?
Discussion
I've just been given a V60 Drive ES in Passion Red as my company car and am pleasantly surprised by the feel and performance of the car. Coming from a VW Passat TDi 140 bhp I feared that I would find the Volvo performance very flat but it is actually quite perky and nippy to drive and the ride is smooth when cruising and a little more fun round the A and B roads than the Passat, which felt a bit barge like in comparison.
Overall, I am very pleased with the Volvo. It has a more premium feel than my alternatives (Insignia, Mondeo, Passat, Avensis etc) and is well kitted out for the base model. Wish my company could have stretched to a R Design D3 though!
What do other V60 owners think?

Similarly surprised response from me so far. "Upgraded" from a C30 Drive and expected performance to be slightly worse but that's not the case. Bought on the promise of similar economy with increased practicality it really hasn't disappointed. Regarding the boot, we also have a V70 and though it looks and measures smaller it easily swallowed all our gear on a trip to the airport for our holiday. Must mention the powershift auto box that's as smooth as silk.
When you get a new car you usually then see lots of them but that has not been the case with the V60. I like that - not that I don't want Volvo to succeed with this model but, remembering my mainstream alternatives, it does give a feeling of exclusivity.
I drove an Insignia CDTI Exclusiv last week and it was horrible - noisy, heavy feeling, blingy and nowhere near as powerful as the 160bhp claimed would suggest. So glad I chose the Volvo.
Most reviews of the car seem to mention the lack of luggage space. It is bigger than it seems and the underfloor storage is very useful in that it keeps all the bits and pieces I carry (tow rope, maps, picnic blanket etc)out of sight and looking tidy. It seems that Volvo's reputation for 'load lugging' is working against the V60 in that reviewers forget this is a Sport's Tourer that does not claim to be a big estate car.
