Hi guys,
Im in the market for a V50 Diesel and am just after a heads up on things to look out for / important services etc.... Im looking at the lower end of the market (£5k ish) so will be higher milage 55 - 56 plate cars I guess, is this something to be worried about or do they tend to handle the milage well?
Cheers

I have just recently purchased (3 months ago) a 2008 2.0d r design for just under 6k with 115000 miles and a full Volvo service history from a auction house, so bargains are out there. Had to freshen mine up with a full wheel refurb and bits of paint work but really impressed with it. Mine has the 18inch Medusas which look good but give it a very harsh ride and loud tyre noise, heard 17inch are much better. Engine gives a decent amount of performance and is good on fuel. Only real negative is the interior build quality, mine has a rattle in the boot area what i just cant get rid of.

Otherwise just the usual stuff, I ran an s40 upto 160,000 but needed new wheel bearings, turbo, alternator etc but I'd expect that from any car doing that mileage!
I am looking at a 2.0D sport, and thinking it would be the best option. Now, when comparing with the parkers running cost guide, although the fuel cost will be more, the servicing is a lot less on the petrol car.
Overall on 13k a year, the petrol 2.0 or 2.4 is cheaper to run than the 2.0D car.
Does this sound right, and should I look at petrol cars?
