Hi all

I bought my XC90 just before Christmas and so far I'm very impressed with the car.

I've been looking to get it remaped but unfortunately my local rolling road can't remap the ECU. Does anyone know of a specialist that can remap an 11 plate XC90 in Sussex, Kent or Dirty

Thanks for your help

Not easy to get a re-map on one this young without physically opening up the ecu (I'm told rolleyes).

You can get the Volvo 'Polestar' map which has the advantage of keeping the warranty
and not being wiped from the ecu each time a main dealer does a software update on your car.

But it's expensive to buy and isn't very aggresive.

Given the car is so new, the Polestar map is going to be ideal, predominantly because it is fully sanctioned, warranty wise, by Volvo themselves, and having driven several variants with Polestar maps, they are very good indeed.

I would recommend having a good read on the various Volvo forums (eg Volvoforums, T5D5 etc) because there are many reports of "tuners" who will happily tell you a pack of lies in order to sell you a poor quality remap.

MRG Chippenham were doing an exceptionally good deal on Polestar remaps last year, to coincide with the yearly MRG Track Day and Summer Performance meet at Castle Combe circuit, so might be worth giving them a call (01249 443300) and speaking to Simon, the service manager there, to see what sort of deal they can do for you.

As Elderly said, the Polestar is the only one which will keep your three year warranty on the car valid.

It's around the £600 IIRC, but worth it to keep your warranty valid IMHO.

Insert your engine type, transmissiom and year here: http://www.polestar.se/en-gb/performance/
to see what performanve increase you will get.

My car is out of warranty in November and I'm going to wait until then to get an MTE re-map.

It should give me about twice the bhp increase over the Polestar at half the price,
IIRC the increase in torque is also progressively greater too (as you go up the gearbox).

not to worried on the warrenty side as I do a lot of miles and will be out of warrenty by late summer

but would love more ponies under the hood

In that case I would give serious though to an MTE map, as it is renowned for its overall driveability. There have been dozens of owners switching to MTE maps having being dissatisfied with the offerings of the other main Volvo tuners, which in itself speaks volumes.

I don't think that you can yet get a standard MTE installation on a car that young;
I'd be interested to hear if you can though.
