Just looking to down grade my Merc and looking at the V50
I will plump diesel and either the 2.0 or D5.
Can someone point me to specs, ie what is the benefit of sport? What is the sportwagon reference?
Looking at £4500 - £5000 ish. Like the look of the R.
I presume the T5 should be left alone if I want cheap motoring

If you're looking for a diesel, then I think you'll have to go for the 2.0D at that price level, as doubt there will be many D5's that low....but I might be wrong?!

If you go for a standard sport, it'll have bigger wheels than standard, but have a slightly basic spec. I had 56 reg V50 SE and it was really well spec'd as standard.

You can ignore "sportwagen" as that means nothing, it's its a v50, it's an estate.

So Sportwaggon is just a title for the V50 in general?
I like comfort and love good seats which hold well as I have a bad back. I always have liked a sport spec but don't want a basic car.
Is the D5 a better engine and worth spending more?

Sport-wagon is a posh continental name for an estate, but if it wasn't an estate it would be an S40 or a C30 so as above ignore that!

D5 is more powerful and a bit smoother because it is a 5-pot

Be aware of the huge service bills at 72,000 for the 2.0D, if you are looking at cars over 72,000 then make sure they have had the DPF changed and the fluid filled, otherwise the exhaust blocks up and causes all sorts of chaos!

I think the D5 also has a DPF, but check service intervals etc....
