I was just about to ask for a Volvo V50 as my next company car but have now seen the teaser pictures of the new V40 on Volvos website.
Anybody got any more news about or information about it? It's meant to be unveiled at Geneva in March.
My only reservation about the V50 was that it had been out a while so I'm really pleased this has been announced, couldn't of been better timed!
Desperate to see a pic of it without the see through cover on it.

I found this on line

I'd suggest from the picture under the sheet, that it's going to be a bit like a V60, in that it looks a bit like an estate, but is in fact more of a hatchback/sloped estate.
My personal feeling is that, whilst it might look ok, it actually makes it fairly useless for actually lugging stuff about.

To the very best of my knowledge this will be an exact clone of Ford's upcoming new Focus ST...same 2.0 ecoboost turbo for the 'T5's, just in a posh frock.
regards, Don.
Since Volvo sold out to China a while back they have been removing all the Ford stuff from their model range, so I think your info may well be flawed on this point.regards, Don.
I am sure that the Chinese company that now owns Volvo will want to manufacture engines and other components in house in the longer term, but there is plenty of trading going on between the two companies. Volvo presently sell their new S60/V60 T5 here in Europe with that very same Ford Ecoboost engine....and the new car out soon is certainly based on the latest stretched Focus platform. And of course the Volvo platform is still under the current Mondeo and other Ford products.

Nice looking car but what now serves as the medium sized estate in the range? The V60 luggage space is smaller than the V50, and now this V40 is even smaller at the back.
The V70 is a nice car but something a bit smaller with the luggage space of an Ocatavia, 3 Series, Audi a4 type car would be nice.

I was just flicking through a what car magazine the other day, and according to a bloke from Volvo, if people want more luggage space than a v40, they should get a v60....which surely has to be some sort of a joke?!The V70 is a nice car but something a bit smaller with the luggage space of an Ocatavia, 3 Series, Audi a4 type car would be nice.
