S80 - Gearbox Service Light On

If the gearbox service light is on does this mean possible high repair bills? What reasons would it come on for? Especially as the car has only done 57k. It's a 2003 D5 auto model. Are these cars prone to any gearbox problems as such?

Does it drive OK? Any clunking or flaring?

I've read something about the service light in the past and it may well be funked. Google throws up lots of info.

Disconnecting the battery may clear the message then it would be worth flushing the gearbox oil. Read this.

If that doesn't do it then you might need the codes reading, only Volvo can do this (unless you know someone that has the right gear).

I'm doing my gearbox flush tomorrow as preventative maintenance after failing to sell the car, going to keep it until it expires now. The oil aint cheap though £110 for 10litres!!
