Morning all

My mother has just purchased a 2006(onwards) Volvo C70 and both of the headlamp units have condensation in them.

We would like to know if anyone has had this before and what the easiest way to rectify it would be?

We would consider replacing both headlamp units (if there is no easy fix) and therefore would like to know if anyone knows where these can be obtained from at a reasonable cost?

Also, if we were going to replace the headlamps units entirely, we were wondering if we bought Xenon units would they just plug straight into the wiring harness that is already in the vehicle (ie direct swap)?

We appreciate there will be costs along the way but really want to get an idea if anyone has done this before and to what cost?

We have phoned two Volvo dealers who have not been as helpful as we would have liked, thus the reason for the post on here!

Any help is greatfully received, many thanks in advance.

Regards

Paul

you can order gel bags from volvo that you can put in the headlights for a hour or 2 and they soak up the moisture. It may help. they are £6.36 each.

As for the swap of Headlights im not sure if that would work...

I've got an 05 V70 with standard headlamps, tried to swap to xenon units...plugged them in and they don't work.
The lamp units are definately fine so it's obviously got different wiring. I assume a C70 will be the same.

Would think its an involved job to swop over, you would need to fit headlamp washers if not already fitted and the sensors that automatically adjust the headlamps with varying load, and the manual level switch would have to be removed.

I guess the wiring loom would be pre installed for both from the factory then there would be software I would think to complete installation.

I have a 2000"new shape"V70 I fitted the oem latter model xenon lights, they plugged straight in and worked. On the early cars you can't reconfigure the software so it constantly tells you the bulbs have blown but I have got a couple of resistors to solder in to solve this.My car already had levellers and washers as standard so no worries with MOT next year!
