volvo S40 next years car
Discussion
hi everyone, just wondering what people think about the volvo S40 1.6 diesel. my plans are :-
- get a volvo s40 1.6d for around 5-6k (06-56, preferably black, navy or grey)
- HID lights
- uprated intercooler and airflow
- lowered suspension (low cost coilovers)
- upgrade sound system (tweeters, components front and rear and jl audio 12" sub in the boot)
and thats about it, does this seem feasable and worth doing? any suggestion and guidence will be of great help. thanks

Why upgrade the 1.6D, why not just buy a 2.0d and leave it standard, better performance & cheaper to insure??
Suggesting after-market HID's on PH will likely get you flamed too, but do what you want, just make sure it's legal!
oh, and certainly for the 2.0d and probably the 1.6d you will have the pleasure of a DPF - it costs £800ish to replace and needs to be done at 72k, so if you are looking at second hand bargains with 65-70k on factor it in as a job to do, if you are looking at second hand with over 72k on, check it has been done already & the FUEL ADDITIVE HAS BEEN TOPPED UP!!!

ETA - the sound system is very customised to the car, so sub would be a no-no unless it came with a factory sub, the system is entirely fibre from CD player to FM Tuning unit, to screen to amp and the master control unit, changing speaker configurations is pretty difficult too!
