Hi all,
Earlier today my G/F's XC90 had a message flash up on the dash saying 'Engine system service required' followed by a loss of power and what sounded like a rush of air under acceleration thereafter. I was driving at the time, and when it happened we heard a sort of 'Pffffft' noise. I first thought it was a puncture, but soon realised it wasn't. I've had a look under the bonnet, but with it being dark now, and how crowded it is under there, I couldn't see anything untoward. My first suspicion is a burst or loose turbo hose, or even a failed turbo itself. Its a 2007 D5. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Thats a turbo hose, my C70 did the same thing, it was the end into the intercooler that had departed, 50p jublie clip and all was good again. smile

Was funny though, even with the pipe off, it was still faster than my old 318 bmw. laugh

With mine it went into limp home mode, with a light on the dash, once the pipe was back on it went off.

Thanks for the replies, car was repaired by Volvo Twickenham- Split turbo hose, much to her relief! And under warranty as well.

My last V70 D5 Twin Turbo had a similar problem - in fact it popped all the headlight and windscreen hoses washer a few times as well.

Least it wasn't a turbo problem!
