New V70 due when?
Discussion
So I test drove the v60 as possible replacement for my aging v70. Really liked the car (t5 se lux), smooth, quick (if not fast) and refined. Media interface very nice and whilst not quite up with iDrive, it is very intuitive and tidy unlike messy Merc incarnation.
Trouble is, boot is just too small and having come back from holiday, 05my v70 boot was full, floor to roof and our needs wont change for a good while.....
So when is the new v70 due? I'm guessing they will replace the s80 1st, but v70 cant be far behind.

I thought the xc90 was going to be dropped in favour of a 7 seater xc60, volvo version of the quashqai+2, but seen on whatcar there is a 2012 update to the xc90, which just looks like a mild tweak to the interior, but didnt look that nice
Agree v60 is lifestyle, with a roofbox it would be fine, but I dont have a garage at the mo to store one.

Seemingly not and Volvo seem to be pricing themselves out of the market. I still have mine, done 115k miles but feeling fragile and going to need work doing soon.
Seen an ex-demo T6, asking over 30k for it. I'm sorry, but there are plenty of decent new model 5-series for that money and they hold their value much better.
I've loved my v70, had it 6 years and as I say, done over 100k in it, but there is nothing for me to upgrade it to. (D5 is fast, but not that economical and doesnt sound nice when pushed)

I'm in pretty much the same boat. I bought my v70 new in late '07 (it's the old shape though) and it's been pretty much perfect for what I needed....basically comfy, reasonably quick and with a massive boot. I was in the showroom about 6-8 months ago and they now don't sell a single vehicle that has a boot as big my current car. Seen an ex-demo T6, asking over 30k for it. I'm sorry, but there are plenty of decent new model 5-series for that money and they hold their value much better.

As above, as nice as the V70 is, the D5 really isn't that economical and if I was going to buy a 30K car again (as in it was that amount, rather than having 30k in loose change!) I don't think there's anything Volvo sell now, that meets my requirements.
Volvo are developing a new platform (SPA) of their own which will replace XC90, S80, V70 and longer term S/V60 plus XC60.
XC90 will be up first in 2014/15 followed by some sort of replacement for the others. Whether they will be direct replacements who knows. I can't see a new V70 emerging until 2015/16 at the earliest. The V70 is still a strong seller in many of Volvo's core markets so I'm sure it will be replaced with something.

Apparently the replacement for the V70 will look like the model below and will be unveiled at the Geneva motor show in March.

Looks good, like an extended V60 at the rear. However, it's missing the traditional Volvo estate trick of having an almost vertical tailgate. Any news on when it will be released?
Edit: Just read the linked articles. Geneva motorshow in March then available to the public mid next year.

So the new V90 has been revealed: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/volvo/v90/93192/new-2...
Looks very nice and a good alternative to the usual A6 or 5 Series, however i'm not impressed by "The total luggage capacity of 1,526 litres (including underfloor storage) is actually less than a BMW 5 Series Touring or an Audi A6 Avant, though. It's smaller than the space inside the previous Volvo V70, too."
Like the V60 it seems to have quite a high boot floor and the sloping rear window steals a lot of boot space. Owners of previous V70's will be disappointed.
