S80 V8 Advice

Guys, I am looking for a nice powerful barge and the S80 4.4 V8 is on my radar.

I like the idea of AWD and a nice 6.6 second sprint sounds just the job, however a few comments I have seen state the suspension is all a bit "wafty and vague", does anyone else find this with the S80 or is it more a case of the mags wanting every car to hang on like a 5 series ?

I've got an '08 s80 2.0 se lux - and whilst it's great as a commute sofa on motorways / dual carriageways, it's certainly not a b road twistys specialist. Our a6 avant Quattro really puts the s80 to shame on B roads - but the Volvo is great on motorways.

I used to have a V8 S80 and they are a great car. Very comfy, lovely engine. Not amazingly quick but 'enough' and plenty of overtaking grunt.

But....................

It's no sportscar. It's OK, but the AWD is very front biased and although it rides and handles competantly I never considered it fun.

Also it was shockingly bad on fuel...... (Have you seen the gov. figures - urban is 11 I think!)
Round town I could creep high teens out of it, on a run no more than 25. Low teens when you're in a hurry.
