Hi,

Considering replacing the family hack (320d touring) for an XC90. Interested in an R Design, new or nearly new. Contacted one dealership yesterday (Adam @ Marshalls Nottingham) but they haven't called me back. Not a great first impression rolleyes

Anyone obtained a good deal on one of these lately that would like to share?

Alternatively, if there are any Volvo dealers/sales people on here that want to get in touch... please do. Either mail me through my profile or post your contact details on here and i will drop you a line.

Cheers all thumbup

Speak to Dan Phillips (sales manager) at MRG Volvo Chippenham (01249 443300) and see if he can help. I bought my last 4 cars from them and their service has been impeccable.

You should be able to get some great deals on XC90s at the moment as they're a very old model now.

I'd recommend giving Lloyd Volvo in Carlisle a call - 01228 515000.

They most certainly are and I know several people (incl a relative) who have bought through them; the supplier in question is a Volvo dealer who largely deal with fleet sales (and hence discount very heavily) but who apparently weren't that interested in aftersales once they've gotten the car out the door. Ironically the relative concerned actually lives in Nottingham too and got so frustrated that he started dealing with the dealer I go to and used to drive down (nearly 150 miles each way) for all their servicing / warranty work; the ownership experience is not solely just the car but the dealership network too. However I must admit with Drivethedeal you have the ultimate bargaining tool! thumbup

Other than the atrocious turning circle, our XC90 R-Design has been superb.

The broker deals gave us leverage to get the local dealer to match their price ( 30k against 39k at the time ) and whilst the design may be older we found the car a big improvement over our old Discovery 3.. not least in the fact its been totally reliable, 30+mpg is achievable and with 5 kids on board I don't worry about the car letting my wife down. Oh and its also great fun to drive !

Do you know WHO the Volvo dealer is?

I have 2 people coming back to me today. Drive the Deal are about £31.5-£32k. So far, through the normal channels i am being quoted just under £33k for a R Design Premium (Metallic paint) with Winter pack and £300 service pack. Also 0% finance over 2 years - which would be rude not too biggrin

Cheers

Volvo dealers will match drive the deal discounts at the moment. Plus, as said above, you can get the good finance deals if you need it.

Ok, firstly thank you to all who have sent me replies and contacts beer

Marshalls in Grantham ended up offering the best deal (just) - matched the best p/x figure i had for the BMW - and offered the XC90 for within £200 of the drivethedeal price. As they are on my doorstep (20 miles) it was a no-brainer. Also very happy so far with the service i have received from Marshalls Grantham. Much more courteous and on the ball than Nottingham.

So, deposit paid and currently awaiting delivery of an 'R' Premium edition. Should be here in 2 weeks smile

A big thank you to Dan Phillips at MRG Volvo Chippenham - very nice chap. Would certainly recommend him yes

And also a big thumbsup too for Marc Turner at Volvo central London - lovely chap who returned all calls as promised and also offered a very keen deal.

Cheers all. Looking forward to hogging the middle lane biggrin

Have you got your new car yet? I'm very interested in this thread; I keep on thinking of getting another 4x4 (had a 4.8is X5 & a Defender!);

I bought my wife a V50 4 years ago & must say it's been a great car, just a little too small for a family of four. Can't believe the deals on XC90 at present & feel I should go for one. I think I'd go for same spec. as yours, so my only real questions are: How much was it & did you get to choose your spec. & colour or was it from dealer stock?

Hi,

We took delivery of it on Saturday. Firstly, the handover and service from Marshall of Grantham was OUTSTANDING. I dealt with Andrew Green - tel: 01476 564114 / 07973 968499. Altogether, a very friendly and welcoming dealership. My local (Nottingham) never even had the decency to return my call. Tempted to pop in and show them what i bought off Grantham

The car.. it is an R Design Premium in Black Sapphire with Winter Pack, tinted windows, active-bending xeons etc. I paid £33k which included all OTR charges etc and a 3 year service package. Approx £11k off list i believe. The spec is ideal. It looks fabulous in black/black. We also took advantage of Volvo's 0% finance deal over 24 months (providing you put a 50% deposit down).

We had to wait 2 weeks for Marshall's to take delivery of the car from Sweden, prep it etc.

The XC90 is great. With the new 200hp engine it feels fine. I was worried it would be sluggish, but tbh it's.... enough.

It was a choice of this (XC90) or increase the budget by £10-15k and buy a Discovery. With the 0% finance deal and the inclusive (£300) service package, the Volvo was too-good-a-deal to walk away from.

It's actually the missus's car. She used to have a Toyota Landcruiser, which we recently swapped for a new 320d Sport touring. The BMW was cr4p. Horribly unrefined gearbox (1st to 2nd gear) and so-so seat comfort. Needed another 4x4 Auto.

In short, it's a great addition to our family, and so far, i am very happy with it.

My only *small* gripe so far, is the turning circle. It's bigger than the Toyota/BMW, so you tend to have overshoot the parking spaces by a metre hehe

Thanks for speedy response - really appreciated.

I have spoken to local dealer today, they say £5,400 off SE Lux, R-Design & Exec. (can't decide between these); I'm waiting for a trade in figure on mine & I'll go armed with your discount & see. I too am more interested in XC90 than Disco due to deal, but if I can't get a good enough price I'll happily keep my car.
