I bought a 2006 V50 in January and it’s been faultless apart from having a tyre, which would drop pressure regularly. Anyway, skip forward a few months and I have just had tyres replaced on the car and the problem is still present, I had always assumed it was a slow puncture but on closer inspection I have noticed a small crack to the alloy itself. Obviously I am going to need to do something about it, but wondered what the best course of action was. Ideally a second hand rim would be my first choice but any suggestions besides ebay would be gladly received?

I have done around 10k miles since having the car and almost certainly with the rim in the same state, is it possible to have it repaired/welded?

Is this a known fault or have I just been a little unlucky? Also the car was bought from a Volvo main dealer and still carries a 12month used car warranty, would it be worth pursuing through this route?

Thanks in advance.

A proper alloy/metal engineer will be able to weld a hairline crack - just make sure they are decent - Where are you based? I know of a decent one in the Norfolk area who welded a friend's alloy which was badly damaged on a pot hole
