We have a 2 year old XC70 D5 that has just started to cough/misfire slightly when accelerating, doesn't happen everytime, but getting more frequent. It's been dealer serviced all along, and has just had a service 5k ago, no faults coming up on computer, anyone got any ideas?

Fuel filters? Have you filled up anywhere remote / dodgy?

Need to read the codes to get more info, but it could be the MAF? That normally throws up the EML light though.

"only" filled at reputable pumps, filters probably changed at service, and no fault codes found. Also, if filters, would assume most problem at peak flow, which should be at high speed as well as acceleration? rather than just accelerating giving an occasional problem.

Eeeek - could a number of other things (but not throwing up a code or the EML light is a bit odd) Just trying to think what it could be without any form of code - maybe a dodgy injector or the potentiometer on the throttle?

Daughters D5 ( S60 though )was a clogged fuel filter ,

along with a blocked breather pipe which is under the rear o/s wing , happened because she often drives in muddy fields towing a horse trailer

Haven't tried the vpower diesel yet, but car was in today for investigation, the dealer installed new "updated software" and seems to have maybe cured the problem, time will tell, but thanks for the suggestions, much appreciated.
