V70 power steering problem

Power steering seems to be dying; have checked the usual belts and fluid and all seem ok although the fluid seems a bit grim. Would it be worth trying a fluid change before doing anything else? It's 12 years old and only used as a dog-mobile plus tip visits, so not worth spending a fortune on.

Try and flush it - but I'd guess the pump my be on the way out.

Spin it lock to lock on tickover - what are the noises?

Not particularly noisy, just heavy as fook!
