Alas, the rear wiper on my 850 has died. Checked relays etc and had a chat to the indy who said it is likely that the metal connections have seized. Simple job he said.

I really am competent doing most things, but every so often there is just the little thing that catches you. I need to remove the rear boot trim to get to the motor assembly, starting with the boot handle plastic cover. Haynes suggests using the mechanic's most commonly found tool- a spatula.

I've tried a multitude of things and can't get the thing off. Please tell me of your past successes!

They are a pig to remove - expect to break several of the clips - 4 at the top and I believe 6 at the bottom. Volvo sell a metal plate modification repair kit which you will more than likely need as breakage is a common problem - they are about 7quid and the clips about 80p each - remove for the top first (closest to the glass). I also recommend changing the high level brake light bulb whilst you have it all off because sods law dictates that it will go as soon as you refit the panel
