Hi,

I am looking for informations about pistons used in TVR Tuscan Challenge RV8 4.45 engine.

Die cast or forged ? Where it is possible to buy them ?

Thanks.

Are you rebuilding one to original specification?
Are you building an exact copy of one?
Are you replacing a few on an original engine?
If you have an original piston to copy, any number of manufacturers would do it for you.

I wouldn't use cast pistons on a real high performance (read: racing) motor. Some people feel that it's perfectly all right to build high performance street motors around cast hypereutectic pistons. I do know that the advantage of this type is their superior dimensional stability under dynamic temperature ranges, which is why high volume manufacturers prefer them. Start car, drive car.

I seem to remember that the strength of cast hypereutectic pistons is inherently lower and therefore the mass required to achieve similar strength to forged alloy pistons is higher. The Tuscan Challenge RV8 was a race only engine. While I don't know it, I'd wager that they originally had forged pistons. Anyone taking bets?
