Sagaris, the best handling TVR

Common consensus seems to say that the Sagaris is the best handling TVR every built. Can anyone shed any light on why, I understand the chassis is a standard ‘T’ unit so did the improvements come from the wishbones, shocks, springs, anti roll bars, etc

any thoughts?

Wider track using different wishbones is one of the tweeks IIRC...? Otherwise not a lot I don't think?!

Autocar said "Powered by a 406bhp 4.0-litre six-cylinder engine, it's 50mm wider and 25mm lower than the car it's based on".

I thought the list was wider track, new geo, new dampers, lower, different suspension pick up points front and back.

Essentially you are correct in that all of the T-cars are basically the same. You could take any T-car and fit the sag rated springs etc. however

You'd need to weld the ears onto the chassis for the raised wishbone attachment points and the bodywork would need to be wider.

If you're re-building a crashed car with a new chassis then you could up-rate to sag spec for very little cost AFAICS but if you start of with a mint T-car then it would be fairly pricey, IMO.

Could be done, but minor improvements, and not necessary; you can get to & beyond Sagaris spec for road or track by optimising T350 springs & high-quality dampers and suspension settings.

Can't mirror Sag settings altogether, eg. they use special long bumpstops etc. which don't fit on T350 pickup points.

Never met a Sagaris on a hillclimb or trackday that was quicker than the T350 even before the 4.2 engine, which is down to the car not the driver. wobble
