Looking into dumping my LT77 in favour of a T5 for my wedge and came across these at $260.00 USD:

http://www.aluminumv8.com/ Scroll down a wee bit.

Devide 260 by 1.64 and that works out considerably cheap (even with shipping) than the £400+ charged by the various UK outlets.

Any differences anyone?

Look at how far back they push the box compared to the TVR ones. Some are much deeper & also require adapter plates as well which accentuates the problem IIRC.

Hi Dave,

I was unaware of that.

In that case it's no doubt worth my while keeping an eye on the PH classified and ePay for the real McCoy!

Thanks again.

Also be prepared for some major work and expense. It cost me around £2k to swap on my wedge including gearbox.

1. You need the Sierra Cosworth T5 to get the gear lever in the right position. The TVR ones don't have the remote in the right place.
2. You will need a new propshaft and gearbox mounts.
3. The speedo drive is not compatible with your speedo.
4. The gearbox output shaft may not be compatible with the clutch so that may need looking at.
5. The exhaust may need re routing.

In the end the conversion will pay for CTS to uprate and rebuild the LT77 box about 5 times. Unless you are looking at silly power, the swap is not cost effective.

Steve, I guess from the information above re: the speedo drive means that going from LT77 to TKO600 (not with a RV8 by the way) would mean the same issue?

Hi Steve,

Spoke to you briefly up at Daventry a month or so back re my SEAC.

OK, five into £2K = £400.

I cannot believe Mr CTS would rebuild AND upgrade my LT77 for that but if that's close to the final price I'd happily consider it.

Body comes off soon for full chassis and suspension refurb.

I want to sort out the poor downshifting graunching noise into second while the box is out.

Thanks for your thoughts.

No Mr CTS won't do it for £400...

It cost me around £365 the last time.

Many thanks Steve.

When the box comes out I'll clean it up and pop along to see them in Markyate.

The price does vary depending how many bits they have to replace.

Well, I've decided to give them the LT for a complete overhaul.

Let's hope it cures the graunch downshifting into 2nd.

I have a John Eales RV8 to T5 bellhousing with the hydraulic release going spare.
It's unused, I headed down a different route after buying it.
It was modified to fit a Mustang T5, but I believe the standard drillings are for a Cosworth T5.
If you need them I probably have pics somewhere.

Chris.
