Engine swaps and IVA / Regs / Whatever
Discussion
Lots of threads on here about swapping engines over etc. Are these a regulatory nightmare waiting to happen? Lots of scary stuff about modding cars and so on on various sites - hard to tell what's made up and what's got a grain of truth to it.
What happens when you put an LS6 into your Chimera 400 (or similar)? You just fill in the appropriate boxes on your V5 with the new engine number and capacity and leave it at that? Nothing else to do?
Cheers,
ben

I assume you mean SVA which is as far as I know for newly built cars and your hence last paragraph I believe to be true for an engine change on an existing one
What nightmares have you read about? Links would be appreciated.

Thanks for the link, I wasn't aware of IVA existing in this context as well as SVA, so humble apologies for the silly post above and a to you. Just google 'engine swap IVA' - you'll get all manner of weird and wonderful stories. E.g. : http://www.yell.com/motoring/blog/wave-goodbye-to-...

Also wise to inform the insurance when you've swapped to 427bhp in your MK5 Cortina.
