i really dont fancy shelling 6k for a rebuild on my mk1 tuscan. fancy putting a big v8 in but dont think there is the room. has anyone kept on the straight six theme??? im thinking toyata supra ? should do well with a couple of big turbos!!! does anyone know about gearbox/diffs? can i use the oridgional tvr diff or is it best getting a supra eng/box/diff and fitting the lot?.

You can screw the power on a Supra turbo up to ridiculous so you'll probably want to have a trans (and diff and axles and CVs and.....) that can handle the power. B
Steve Heath has a Tuscan in Dave Wallis's workshop to be treated with the LS conversion.
The first cars are about to be finished. One of them is a Speed Six Cerbera. Don't think it's wise to drop something in yourself. Steve did put hours and hours into this conversion to get it done for a good price. It's a clever conversion. But you'll not get it for 6K.

Having had a an extensive chat with Mr Heath about the ins and outs of doing the LS conversion on a cerbera I do think his package is good value for money, interestingly he said most of the TVR bell housings are all over the shop in terms of flatness , parallelism concentricity etc.
so part of his work is machining the donor bell housing to get it right before anything else, might explain some of the short clutch life people experience.
I mention this to show its not just a 'drop it in' job
So you'll get a new V8 installed with a set of bits to make it fit that's had the bugs worked out by someone else for about 7K? admittedly Steve's yet to price a Tuscan conversion yet and this may yet throw up some issues but on the face of it, its the way I'd go.

update, i have made a few measurements and i think the toyata supra unit is not far off, dont know where the turbos will sit, might bit the twin turbos in favour of a big single unit.a local lad has got his upto 550 with about 2k of parts and uses it most weekends at santapod, so i think about 400 should be fairly reliable with a boost control on

Go for it. The 2Jz is a fantastic engine, way over engineered.flyingdutchie said:

When you say hours - you mean years and years and years The first cars are about to be finished. One of them is a Speed Six Cerbera. Don't think it's wise to drop something in yourself. Would the supercharged Jag XKR engine fit..?
Doubt it very much the DOHC head and 90 degree block make this very wide across the heads hence a simpler SOHC or Pushrod lump like and LS, SBC, SBF etc will be alot narrower across the head.I'd sat forget an DOHC thing as to complex and 99% likley to be way to wide. Keep it simple Worked for me.
