asking silly 4.6 questions, what is the standard rod journal size on the 4.6, is it 55.5mm/2.17" and what it the minimum safe size they will go down to 1.85" Im looking at Honda Journal size now, which seems to be norm with nascar engines at 8.5k, but they run a shorter stroke steel crank, I would guess 7k would be a safe limit,- If I went this route, I would probably turn the outer edge of the crank down too, just to remove a bit of weight, without seeing the crank, a deburring and polishing could be in order, and if there is enough meat give it a wee knife edging too,

I'd make a guess that only someone like Rob Robertson (V8 Developments) or Ian Richardson (Wildcat) would be able to accurately answer that..

They may have been there and done that.
