I recently finally got round to fitting an old Wizards of Nos kit to my Chim 450.
Experimenting at first at York drag strip we had the controller wired wrong and ended up using a pushbutton switch dangling by the steering wheel.
I fitted 120 jets in both the gas and fuel and the top speed was a little higher but the power was 'on and off'.
I only had a 50 jet so risked it and swapped the fuel jet for this.
Next run knocked 0.7 secs off and i bagged a 12.6 @ 111.
By the end of the day reducing tyre presuures i got 12.2 @ 113.

I realise that according to Wizards a 120 nos jet equates to 60 bhp and maybe even 75 bhp.

Ive now wired the controller correctly which is now triggered by a WOT (wide open throttle) microswitch.
Im also fitting another pair of solenoids and a 2nd injector for a 2 stage system. The second stage will be used in higher gears via the pushbutton.

I intend to increase the jets in Stage 1 for 100 bhp and have 60 bhp in stage 2.
I will swap the NGK plugs for cooler grade 8's and retard the ignition by at least 4 degrees.
Im hoping for a mid 11 sec 1/4 at over 120mph.

Question is...
Is this pushing too much and does anybody have any final words of advice, warning or encouragement?

Come see me at York this Sunday.
It will either be impressive or catastrophic.

You have to be careful how much power you put through the block. A standard none crossbolted block will start to spread at the sump face if its not supported. Forget about the TVR 500 power claims, none made 300hp and that is the limit of the standard block. Good luck!

That surprises me yes 300 hp scratchchin on what basis do you make that statement ?

As far as i was aware a non cross bolted block should be good for 375 hp and indeed my 500 is at 350hp no cross bolting

Having said that when i go to my next target hp which is around 375 hp i will ARP the bottom end smile
