Classics aside that is.

To my knowledge the GM LSx (ie. LS1, LS6, LS2, etc.) has so far successfully been transplanted into the Chimaera, Griffith, Cerbera and Tuscan. Has anyone turned their attention to the T350 and Sagaris? Or is there not enough room under the bonnet?

You are not quite right about the tuscans:

There are some racing Sagaris (how do you pluralise!?!) with LS engines but not sure if they are Tuscan racers with different bodies, guys in the dunlop challenge forum would know more.

Tuscan: SpeedEight (A first gen chevy small block but not ls) according SE the Tuscan rails are to narrow for an LS plus exhaust to fit so he choose an SBC which are narrower.

I think a member here V8Sag in NZ(I tihnk?) would be a good guy to post about whether engine fits in the chassis.

Cerberas: Brummie(stroked LS1, soon to be stroked ls3)
shpub (stock ls1)
diycerb(supercharged LS1 in the making)
ffirg 005(LS6? finished ? tongue out) in NZ
um ME too but am getting my engine built up first.

Chimaera: Jellison (ls6) soon to belong to someone else as for sale.
A customer of Jellison with same setup.

Griffith: not sure the owner, but an LS2

That'll be me (name changed tongue out). It's a work in progress... mine's more of a complete strip and repair/rebuild with various body and mechanical modifications. Current thinking is to add a Sagaris-style splitter and under-body diffuser at the rear (not a wing) to make it more track-oriented.

Swedish chappy - Pere? LS2 and TKO600. He posts here occasionally and there's much detail of his build on a website somewhere. There's not been an LS in a road-going Tuscan to my knowledge but absolutely no reason it wouldn't fit. I think Mike (Boosted) said he did the measurements years ago.

Oh... and you've missed out the first (not sure if that's debated by anyone?) LS transplant was done in NZ by v8sag and his mate - a race prepped Chimaera. We had a man in the air before the Wright Brothers too http://www.nzedge.com/heroes/pearse.html but try telling a yank that wink

Nothing in a T350 or Tamora yet though I think Plasticman has sat one in a T350 chassis and thinks it'd be fine.

I'm fairly certain one of my customers has one in a 3000M or at least that's what I think it's called.

Oh, and there's a 6.3 SBC in my humble road-registered Tuscan smile

There's nothing humble about your Tuscan nono, and Percy sounds a smart chap - but it doesn't say anywhere he ever actually flew under power wink

Hello there.
My experience with TRYING to fit an GM LS motor into the ROAD going Tucan is as follows.........

It will NOT fit.

Unless drastic exhaust work or/and chassis top rail modification is undertaken.

If the chassis of the road going Tuscan is the same as the 350 and Tamora then the same will apply to these vehicles.

Furthermore the mark 2 Tuscan will present yet more problems because of the steering column lower section as it is very different to the mark 1 Tuscan and physically in a different place.

It is all very well to measure something up and assuming that it will fit.
Making it fit without re-working the vehicle is another thing altogether.

If one is prepared to re-work the vehicle then the origional post is an irrelevant one as under these circumstances anything will fit into anything.

But I do not think that that was the the way the question was asked.

Regards,
Speedeight.

Just for information because I've seen it done, you widen the two top rails at the rear and fit a smaller bellhousing and clutch to fit an lsx into a tuscan chassis. Steering and exhaust are just a couple of lifes little hurdles to overcomesmile

yes They are Tuscan challenge chassis which are quite different to the speed6 tuscan. they were designed for the RV8 and AJP. after working on them im sure it was actually designed to fit a 1600 xflow !!!!

THe sag/Tuscans have had the top chassis rails moved, and use a variety of boxes from t5 to hilinger seqential...

Thank you very much.
It does go quite well. And it is without doubt the loudest Tuscan you will hear.

More development work details in the spring time.

Regards,
Speed eight.

I started to read the original thread about the development of your car (most interesting and absorbing), but sadly the usual 'meatheads' came along to show off their testosterone, and I gave up around the fourth page. I'll continue it another time.

Best of luck with your car, and future developments. smile
