Have just had an idea regarding an airbox, I have a Chimaera with 8 throttle bodies I nned to sort an airbox, is there any good reason why it should not draw air in from the the rear of the bonnet/base of the wind screen.

Any thoughts?

Mark do you have any pictures of the throttle bodies that you could post, I am toying with the idea of fitting them versus a tripple throttle from ACT. Not sure which way top go yet.

As long as when you've got the top off you fasten your seatbelt and leave your false teeth at home you should be okay.

I think some of the TVR owners who raced with 'S' V6 engines did this and one guy made a closed airbox out out the bulkhead bodywork.. the area of the windscreen is aparenty considered 'low pressure' but I think it will work just fine biggrin At least it's cool air biggrin

I reckon you'd be better off channeling air up from the nose like the original Tuscan racers and just about any other similar installation. I think trying to suck air from a low-pressure area is regarded as a no-no. Depending on how you did it you'd receive a certain amount of ramflow too.

Do you have room to stick the top of an airbox to the underside of the bonnet? That way you could have the bottom half stay in position so when you open the bonnet you can see a nice set of polished trumpets. You could then feed the airbox with two tubes going down in front of the radiator in similar fashion to the original.

Are you using motorcycle throttle bodies by the way? I'm looking at going this route at some point with my 5.1litre motor.

Here's a quick pic of the throttle bodies on my Tuscan... its currently got bigger trumpets, with some huge filters on it poking out of the bonnet ( looks a bit like a battle ship !!)

Hope fully at some point working with ACT we'll have a proper air box.
