OK, trivial question, but since the engine is out (and 'box/propshaft) I was just wondering if folks are using any special high spec monster bolts on the propshaft to diff flange? As I was taking things apart it just reminded me everything in the drive train is pretty beefy now..and then there's 4 wee bolts to handle the best part of 500ft/lb.

So, is there such the thing, or are common-or-garden bolts up to the job?

If you're in a hurry, use standard grade 8 fasteners or, if you have a little time, try www.arp-bolts.com/ or www.unbrako.com/

Use at least a 10.9 bolt preferably 12.9 spec, 8.8 spec is std and not really up to the job, don't forget it shouldn't be the bolts transferring the torque they are just there to clamp the two faces together hard enough to provide the friction which transfers the torque.

Any 'self coloured' (black) bolt are usually 10.9 at least

A critical point which implies the high tensile bolts will need to be done up to a correspondingly higher torque to be effective.
