Hello chaps, thinking about getting a set of those rather nice ACT manifolds with racing cats. Has anyone fitted these and do they offer any improvments other than looking rather nice ?, sorry if this asked before. Many thanks

Yes, to Chim 450. Quite a bit more power (though I didn't bother putting cats back in), and sound really good.

Suggest you remap/rolling road at the same time to get the best out of them. I needed some quite large adjustments to the fuelling.

Good improvement on my Griff 500. They were fitted around the time I fitted other major items (like ECU, injectors, mapped ignition and stuff) so it's difficult to tell exactly how much gain each bit was responsible for.

Nigel,

Just got my Chimp back from Jamie at Castle Race Engines with a new 5.3 lump in it. Its been decatted and had the ACT stainless manifolds fitted ....and looks the business ! Difficult to give you any comparison because of the new engine ( prev 5L) but all I can say is that it goes like stink puts out 347 BHP and 390 Ft Llbs torque. Also had a new Emerald ECU and re-mapped.

act thanks for that they look very nice, i have just brought a richard moore engine that i am sure you know very well, came out of a road legal race tuscan! fitting it to a 2500 triumph as a sleeper hotrod and i'm very stuck on space. do you have many of these performance manifolds fitted at you workshop what i could get messurments off, also in the event they are to large ( i have about 8 inchs clearence in front of the engine) would it be aplicable to shorten them or have they been balanced at this lengh to allow equal exhuast?

cheers

Yes if it's the engine i had, was a Graham Nash 5.0L & made massive power.

confused, in what way is JE an alternative to ACT ? he doesn't supply TVR manifolds in fact as suppliers we are very different, John Eales is a very good RV8 engine specialist though thumbup

Tim - I think it's pretty obvious .. he supplies tripple plenums and so do you.. just look at the pictures.

Nothing more implied.

There was me thinking this thread was about manifolds wobble

That aside, the JE plenum sure is ugly

Have to disagree, I think it looks exactly right for it's purpose, it's certainly no uglier than anything made in carbon (which looks dreadful in my eyes unless exceptionally shiny with good weave alignment). But it's personal preference, there are people who buy tuning stuff just because they like it's looks .. most of my brake upgrades go to people who want to "fill the wheels" better and venture nowhere near a track ..

So it's just an eerie coincidence that whenever you post on a thread that I have, you post immediately after me. rolleyes Anyone would think I'm in your mates list.

Spooky then, that I recall you suggesting using it as a feature to track what people say (and not just your mates).
