Converting 2500M to Rover 3.9 V8
Discussion
I'm looking for any information on converting a TVR 2500M to Rover V8. Why you ask?
I recently purchased a 1975 M (in Ontario, Canada) with a Chevy 350 V8 already installed.
This motor feels wrong for the car and since I have several Rover engines kicking around with 5 speed gearboxes, I am considering making the switch. Any help or input will be much appreciated. I have converted MGBs to Rover V8 and have been very satisfied with the results.

We dropped a 4.6 Range Rover V8 into a TVR M series using basically the same setup from the RV8 we did attach a LSD from a Jag to it tho if you wanna see pix goto http://apollosportscars.co.uk/tvrm.ht theres not much to look at, but I will put some more up if u want more info
Thank you for the response. I would like to take you up on your offer of more pics. I have a Rover 3.9 motor to install along with the Rover bell housing and 5 speed gearbox. I have stock Rover P6 headers and a set of RV8 headers. I also have a jaguar LSD for the rear. Is it possible to install this without removing the body?
Thanks again for any more pics or suggestions.

I think the engine is as far back as it will go.
Perhaps I am reacting to comments people have made about it being the "wrong" engine.
I guess it would be more appropriate that the car have a Ford V8 motor, and then perhaps the exhaust headers would actually fit properly. Currently the headers curl up over the valve covers and exit the rear of the engine bay. Can't remove the valve covers without removing the headers first. Let me ask the question - is the Rover engine a good match with the M chassis given it's light weight?

RV8 - drop in easy - Mate has a Grantura with one and a Tuscan with a 302 Ford, and I have the Griff200 with 289 (in bits). Jack Griffith first approached Chevy for the 350 to go in the Griff but they already had the Corvette out there so said no - then went to Ford and they said yes. So they both in theory have good reason to be there 289 and RV8 will be ligther and smaller but Chevy SBC will have more power for the same level of tuning.

Interesting history about the Chev 350 and the Griff.
The engine in my car needs a rebuild and i want to upgrade the gearbox from T10 4 speed to 5 speed. My TR6 diff is beat too.
Since I have a good Rover 3.9, Rover box and Salisbury diff I thought I would do the transplant. Wondering if my stock Rover P6 headers or MG RV8 headers will fit.

Sounds like a plan with all those bits lying about. Iron SBC will make a nice anchor of you have boat. The engine in my car needs a rebuild and i want to upgrade the gearbox from T10 4 speed to 5 speed. My TR6 diff is beat too.

I well understand the comments about a SBC.
The engine is much wider at the top and will give very tight manifolds.
Jelly have you ever lifted an early 350 chevy?? with Iron heads and inlet
They weigh a ton, almost literally. SBF much better option and Rover V8 lighter again though very expensive to tune to a comparable power output.

Jelly have you ever lifted an early 350 chevy?? with Iron heads and inlet - Er no - and my Alloy LS6 is not exactly a lightweight! Working the ally to iron conversion out a Full SBC must be Horrendous - this is why I flammed the guy putting one in a modern Tuscan (rather than an LS) - Stupid........... The engine is much wider at the top and will give very tight manifolds.
