Hi, I have a rover 5 litre which I am putting into a project that car (off road)I have, fitted a set of 48 downdraught carbs,on looking at them I noticed a fuel return pipe , is it possible to blank this of or does it have to return to the fuel tank ,if it was blanked of what problems ,if any would it cause? many thanks David.

You do need to have are turn pipe back to the fuel tank to allow excess fuel to return, as you will have to fit a high volume pump to run these carbs. If you block this off the carbs will flood! hope this helps?

also returning the fuel to the tank also ensures that there's a constant supply of cool fuel to your carbs - very handy when in traffic (or stuck in a big mud hole - dont ask me why i know that...rolleyes)
I fiited a restriction in the return so i didn't loose too much pressure (actually used an old jet)

Thanks, when checking what I presume is the return pipe it does seem to have restricter fitted, David
