carbs or stick with fuel injection
Discussion
now the tuscan is back it is time to refit it all up but i cant decide wheather to stick with the fuel injection system or to fit a webber four barrel carb
the engine is a griffith 400 engine that has been breathed on a little bit dyno for about 225 bhp i hope that will be ok in this car as it is so light if not castle engines will be getting a bit of work
if i fit carbs it will make the wiring a lot easier for me and also any future mods will not need a visit to a rolling road with a laptop
but if i stick with fuel inj i have got all the parts already so cost is minimal
any ideas on the carbs or any of the above would be most welcome
thanks phill
ps if the weather picks up i will get a pic and post it before i strip the car down again

Wiring up the EFI is a doddle really if you've got the engine bay loom its only about 6 wires you need to connect up and if you've got all the bits your already ahead. longer term if you want to tune things you can either get the lucas remapped or stick in an emerald or somthing. If your looking to cre to maybe do some engine upgrades then they have a lot of emerald experience now especially when combined with Joolz rollers.
Just dont ask jamie to convert from carbs to EFI, he may kill you...
one thing that you will need to consider is the fuel pumps etc. I assume your using a new tank in the rear somewhere. with a carb setup you could probably get away with a low presure pump like a red top. with efi you'll either need an in tank swirl pot or a red top feeding an external swirlpot and then a high pressure pump.
I ran my tuscan with a 4ltr in 05 and the start of 06 and we had a similar amount of power. Its certainly quicker than a chim and will be fun on the road. On the track though the chassis needs a bit more power to get the best out of it

We ended up fitting a 4 barrel Webber to our old 5.0 Griff and it worked very well. I don't know how far you're going tuniing wise but the stuff you can bin is quite impressive, ECU, AFM, Lambdas, wiring, stepper etc. It really does eliminate a lot of potential gremlins. The power gain was noticeable and the intake noise was nice but the fuel economy did suffer a little
you are much better off going for a cheap aftermarket ECU .. the response and max power everywhere in the rev range are worthy in their own right, but you'll also get beter economy so you can carry less fuel! Carbs are old technology and the fuel slope you get is a compromise .. plus not many places these days keep carb jets, EFI is better in just about every respect
If you've got a standard EFI set-up handy, just fit that. With your motor it's difficult to justify going after-market and carbs are going to be an even bigger compromise or will cost a fair bit to have set-up correctly - IMHO.
Personally, when I do my next install I'm going to go with Suzuki throttle bodies on a custom inlet manifold and probably an Emerald ECU. It's nowhere near as expensive as it sounds and the individual throttles makes it a lot easier to keep a naughty cam road-usuable.
