Just a thought, is there a direct replacement for the T-5, have done some searching but can't work out if the T56 would do the job, don't want to get into cutting the chassis.

cheers mark

You don't really want a TVR Chimaera do you? You really want a Dodge Viper - instead of changing a Chimaera bit by bit into one why don't you trade your Chimaera in against one?

I hope you're happy with your partner or else she's in for alot of plastic surgery!!

Thanks for your comments, but a Viper (maybe the coupe)is not my thing, I think they are a bit vulgar for my taste

Hi Mark
We had a T56 installed in both Chims here, they will fit however you will have alot of trouble with the exhaust.Plus the ratio's are quite far apart,.62 or .56 depending on box for sixth.
Whats wrong with the T5?I think it suits the car pretty well,if you want longer legs why not go for a longer diff ratio, like a 3.25 or 3.08,both available for the BTR.

Hi Paul, thats an idea, yes I want a'tall' final drive for continental trips, I think with my extra power it could pull it.
I'm pretty sure I can lay my hands on a Toyota Supra 6 speed box, I seem to remember there was a guy in your neck of the woods who did a conversion kit with these box's for Astons,Jags and TVR.

Cheers Mark

Ps any thoughts on the front splitter

If you do a NZ google "bellhousings" theres a chap in Waihi that does all sorts of bellhousing conversions, lots of supra/celica conversions here but not everyone likes them,I think first is something like 3.22.
Have a look at www.streetcommodores.com for diffs,ours is a m76,(7.6" crown)but im sure when we changed our ratio's we used a 7.8"
If a couple of people want the splitter, where are you Don!then its worth taking moulds,I have no idea of the costs plus it needs to be shipped.I'll get a price if you like.

Here!

Yes if there's a group purchase option which drops the cost of the splitter I could be interested... was wondering how visible the bolts and seams where it joins on would be? Quick removal isn't as important for me as having it look properly integrated.

Had a closer look at the exhaust with a local engineer chap last night and I think 2.5" pipes will just squeeze past the T56, may need to be crimped a little to do it though. But if you were starting from scratch I would advise against it - better off modifying the T5 or going for a TKO as jellison has done.

Quick Hijack

Its 6 very neat rounded hex bolts or you can blend in to the front if need be for a permanent fit, will get some prices in the next couple of days.

If you wanted longer legs couldn't you just change the diff? I fitted a 2.84 into a TR8 and it was excellent.
