Can some one in quite simple terms explain the differences between them. I thought they were all variations on the same theme. but i've seen quotes that an ls2 doesnt fit where a 1/6 will. then there is the subject of hybrids !!!

Briefly
LS1,6(5.7),LS2,L76,L92(6.0),LS7(7.0)all have the same external block dimensions and mounting points.
There are a few changes to front and rear covers, inlet manifolds, knock sensor positions, sumps etc, heads are all interchangable, but you'll need the right inlet manifold to suit.

See the other post - Oh you are All fit in same whole bar the 7 with the drysump setup. Or a problem on pulley design if you want AC - similar issues to the &'s dry sump issue.

mmmm, so basically choose the one that gives me the best bang per buck then...

a/c dont need that, pas thats for girls and if needed i'll use an electic column. i could even run the alternator off the prop. might even go electric for the water pump.. it would be for the racer anyway...

500 bhp has a nice ring to it... 2008 season probably..

500bhp is easy for all the above engines, even with big miles on them! simply get a nice set of ported heads, or even aftermarket ones, a nice camshaft and a LS1 edit (lets you tune like a standalone i think) or go for an aftermarket. with a set of headers you should easily see 500bhp!

oh and if you want more then you could always put a 100bhp shot of N2O ontop of that! and with the right tune the bottom end will take it!

thanks Chris.
