To be honest though, unless you are dealing with monster power like Steve is with his aforementioned Wedge, you don't really need it. Far better to spend a lesser amount of money on driver training and educate your right foot.

Edit: Having said that and having just looked at your profile, if you're talking about your supercharged Cobra then maybe TC is a good idea after all. hehe

Don't waste your cash on these stuff - get better at driving like JonRB says.

TC in a TVR is poison.

What about the period of time while you're learning, before you have God-like skills to deal with any problem? What about when you're tired and not as sharp as you usually are? This time of year is the start of the season of "I've just lost it in a straight line, smashed my car up and there was no warning" threads. Traction control that you can switch on and off is a good idea, just as improving your skills is.

Steve.

I don't disagree with you, Steve. However, I would venture that if I'd fitted my Chimaera 500 with TC when I bought it (as I was very tempted to do - SHPub may possibly remember my enquiries about 5 years back, although maybe not) then I might never have developed the skills to handle the car that I have. Also, I doubt I would ever have been brave enough to turn the TC off.

You've had a Chimaera 500, so you must surely know what I am talking about.

The other thing is that TC is very expensive to fit, especially to a TVR as it does not have ABS sensors so must have additional sensors fitted. It is also moderately difficult to calibrate.

jellison, as usual, hasn't been particularly diplomatic in the way he said it, but the point remains that upping your driving ability is a more cost-effective option than fitting TC, especially when you consider that you can easily move it from vehicle to vehicle.

I'm with you there Jon (RB) and I agree training is the cost effective choice, I'm just providing a bit of balance to Mr. Jelly's somewhat coloured view of the world.

My Traction control is to take the mini when crappy outside.

No pile of electronic chips should get between you and you slides....

However if you do fancy Racelogic (Race should most definately NOT be in there!) - you could do a lot worse than have WORTEC fit it - but really they only do in stuff with supertuned LS's 450 and up but mainly there 550bhp Blown LS's.
