T56 reverse gear safety question
Discussion
on the 6 speed it is relatively easy to select reverse inadvertently.
I've used the standard GM solenoid for reverse lock out.on t56 in griff and 6060 in tam
if you are using a GM ECU there is normally an option that this is configured to open only when at nil speed, but you of course need the speedo to be wired to the ECU to do that.
I've wired mine to operate with the brake lights, so i can only select reverse with the brakes on. I've wired both the tam and griff like that with no issues.
some people fit a dash switch that you hit to select ref verse, but i think i would find that a bit of a faff.

Yes, i do not want a switch. My workshop is going to look if it can be wired so it operates at nil speed. I also found a thread on the ls forum where they converted the solenoid in a mechanical safety. Brakelights is an option.
you can replace the solenoid with a strong spring mechanisem. that means needing effort for reverse more then 5/6. it works but i didnt like it muchGassing Station | TVR Major Mods | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
