I have been suggested a parts package for a cam. Suggestion is to also fit a ported LS2 oil pump. Can anyone tel me why a ported oil pump should be in the package? Also a new timing chain and lifters is suggested. My timing gear can stay as it is.The engine has done o more than 2000 miles.

no real need to change lifters and timing chain if the engine has low miles. being roller lifters they don't bed to the cam

no real need either to change the oil pump either on a road car.

Buy all accounts one of the 1st mods on a LS engine is Exhaust manifolds , taking with Peter Knight of Knight Racing Engines a cam and exhaust package you should gain anything from 60-80 hp with fuel and ignition tweaks ...

It has LS1 manifolds on now. Converter welded a 2,5" pipe to it. A have a set of LS7 manifolds which wil go on now.

I've ls7 manifolds, which are remade very tight to the block to clear the chassis. they make good power (500 hp/tq from a 6.0 with a cam). you will get better with LT headers , but its a lot of money for 20hp.

Springs, retainers, seals, push rods, cam, check timing chain I went for the ls2 chain (strongest one) also comp do a trunion upgrade to make the rockers almost built proof

About $1000 but after that lots in you can swap cams about all day long for $350

Comp's lsr cam range is very nice
