Hi

I have such bad ground clearance on my Tuscan that I need to find out if its possible to fit a shallower sump.

Many thanks

i use the corvette sump. it is flush with the bottom of the bell housing at its lowest part. it is 4 3/4 deep from the bottom of the block if you get one you will need the oil pick up also of course.

I've ordered a singing and dancing moroso sump, it's 5.5 inch deep

Check to make sure you're not using the 8.3/4 truck sump

I've got the same problem Steve. It comes below the chassisrails. I did some research in the past and there are possibilities. Interested in what you wil fit.

Summit racing have a few to choose from.

But be careful not to get carried away on there.....

Thanks it looks like the LS 2 sump will fit. Can't go to the expense of the dry sump but this one should take it level with the chassis rails

the ls3 sump in mine is about flush with the bottom of the chassis rails.....any shallower, and the bellhousing would be the next thing to ground.

Ive bought the Holley 5.8" one from summit racing. They do an optional trap door kit for it which I have purchased as well. The standard truck one is HUGE!

Guess this is one of the heath robison cars, i remember back when he was pushing this thing, him posting on here about "chucking a cam in" these engines, fact is is not just the sump thats off a truck, things like valves, springs, retainers are all heavy,

and as he said at the time "anyone can do the conversion by chucking 20 grand at it, but i am doing it the smart way"

think he has trucked off now, but he got the LS cars a bad name

I run a Dailey dry sump of a Rouch DTM LSx 70mm deep

Grant, I do not think the engine is bad. Not at all. These are fitted in Holden VE/VZ, SS, SSV, Calais,R8 and GTS cars. Power is almost LS3 and the advantage was the price. These engines were, for a period of time, offered for very attractive prices. LS3 engines are also upgraded with cams and springs. I agree that valve springs would offer a better valve control and would make the engine rev higher. For the rest this engine is a monster, to my opinion.

Dyno Torque has a few sumps kicking around off various cars, and he can mod them for you if need be.
These are the guys with the baffle plates, going through the complex at Silverstone the oil light would flicker up, but this sorted it, they do some nice other bits and bobs too..
