There are various routes to advanced training, but the most common path (for good reasons) is a course via a local group of the IAM or RoADAR. The Skill For Life Diary (sticky thread at the top of this forum) will give you an idea of one PHers experience.
Both organisations teach a very similar syllabus based on Roadcraft (The Police driving manual), and if you contact the groups closest to you they should be able to explain how they can help.
If you have more money than time there are a number of very qualified driving coaches available, but it might be better to save this until you've mastered the basics.
