What happens at this?
I went the year before last and only couldn't go last year due to things getting in the way.You get taken for a drive by one of the members (they give commentary, talk about what they are doing), then you take them for a drive and they give you feedback. That happens with 2 different members. In between those trips there are lectures (makes it sound boring but they're not at all), when I went it was on safe overtaking (on B roads obv), circuit driving, and reading the road.
It was great, massive learning experience and full of nice people who really love their cars.
I went in 2010. I REALLY enjoyed myself, and was lucky enough to be invited to a day with the HPC at Millbrook.
Again, I had a great time and I am looking forward to meeting up with one of the gatekeepers this year, if funds allow.
Anyone who is able to attend the Young Drivers Day, really should!

I'm afraid that by asking that question instead of clicking the link above, you may have failed the initiative test...
To be fair to Lucie, it doesn't rally explain much and you have to log in to do anything on the website...It sounds interesting, not sure I'd like to do circuit driving in my car though...

just to clarify -- this is a road driving day. It's only a circuit in the sense that you get back to the same place for a nice cup of tea every now and again.Turbolucie -- the posts above from previous victims summarise quite nicely the format.
The weather is always excellent.

Ah thanks. Sounds fun but not dissimiliar to the IAM stuff I've done, so not sure I can justify the cost. Would be interesting though
Hi turbolucie,Trust me, this will be nothing like the IAM stuff that you've done. Yes, HPC driving is also based upon Roadcraft the Police Driver's Handbook; but there the similarity ends. You'll have to go along yourself to find out how different it is.
I am very interested in this having wanted to go last year but not being available on the date.
My question is though my current road car is a 2002 fiesta 1.25. I know the same rules apply regardless of vehicle and I will learn a lot but will I be a bit of a laughing stock if I turn up at the "High" performance club day in such a "low" performance car?
If its any consolation I do currently own a high performance vehicle but it is under no circumstances ever going to road legal!

You will not be a laughing stock.
Driver, not car, always remember that.

I think the 'High Performance' relates to those who aspire as drivers, not the car. My question is though my current road car is a 2002 fiesta 1.25.
