Hi all, hopefully someone can offer some ideas here. I drive a van for work, along with three colleagues. We each do around 500 miles per week on average. One of the guys is a fairly inexperienced driver, who totally misjudged a NSL overtaking manoeuvre last week and wrote his van off and broke his arm in the ensuing accident. (Fortunately he managed to avoid the other vehicles involved, but it could have been very nasty!) The rest of us have been driving a lot longer, but I have no doubt we could all improve with some tuition.

Do the IAM or anyone offer a driving course which we could attend to improve observation, road positioning, defensive driving etc? My boss is not going to allow us masses of time to learn push-pull steering and the correct way to hold a gearstick; but a day or two focusing on driving behaviour rather than the minutiae of operating the controls would be great.

You could try ATC Driver Training based over at North Weald - www.driver-training.co.uk They do a lot of this sort of stuff.

David will tailor a course to exactly your needs. The website is a bit crap tbh, but the service he offers will sort you out.

The instructors he uses are all top blokes, very pragmatic and will significantly reduce your risk profile whilst not turning your staff off.
