This is the junction in question, a parallelogram shaped box junction

-

I am coming from the north and turning to my right

Another vehicle is coming from the south and turning to his right

What I do is enter the box (exit lane is clear), wait for oncoming traffic to stop and then turn in front of the oncoming right-turning car.

Am I doing that right?
The shape of the junction seems to make turning-in-front more appropriate.

I'd turn behind the oncoming car, always feels more natural to me. Doesn't result in a blocked view of the lane your crossing either.
Trouble is everyone cuts junctions so much these days they just aim for you when you do it.

It is true not too many people want to turn offside to offside or should I say not many drivers know of that method im sure .

The best thing to do is assess the attitude of the other approaching right turners which might give you a clue about which way they are going to lead you to,it also depends on the size of the junction and whether or not it is acceptable for offside to offside can be done.

Now looking at the google earth map I would say that there is plenty of room at this junction for offside to offside turning as it looks wide,so if anyone else turns in a different fashion then they are in the wrong.

Best advice i would give is do as the Highway code describes and you hopefully wont go wrong,in as much as you have done it correctly and others have not,but as we know this is not always the case these days, as people will always argue the toss over any driving incident that they feel they are right over, even if they are not they will still try and justify they are right.

I just drive up to the correct point to turn offside to offside & if they still can't grasp how to use a road properly i'll just make sure they don't hit me & leave them to suffer.
They remind me of all the cars who when I used to drive coaches & was waiting to turn right in such a place who'd stop alongside me pointing the other way to turn right & then wonder why I didn't go anywhere. Something to do with if I did I'd go over them.
No-one thinks anymore, that's the problem with roadusers.

That's not a box junction: the angles are greater than prescribed in diagram 1043.

In other news, the HC used to recommend offside to offside passing ins these circumstances for the reasons stated (better view of oncoming). Recently I understand the preferred method to be nearside to nearside to allow traffic flows (offside to offside is a gated flow)
