So, this next weekend, I'll be racing my first real amateur competition!

I've been doing some reading, and I have the general idea of what to bring to the event, like pencil, timekeeping stuff, calculator, etc...

Any other sensible tips from more experienced petrolheads?

Anyone know if it's legal to strip down my car?

I doubt you'll need to strip the car down, it's timing and brains that'll triumph over speed.

If it was me I'd be tempted to write a little app to work out speeds and timing etc and run it on a laptop manned by my passenger, but that might not be in the spirit of the rules biggrin

A good dose of prunes would be much cheaper. HTH.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Well, if we're going to get technical, the laptop app thingy is not really allowed

And, p1esk, if you're trying to imply that I'm full of st, is that really necessary?irked

Being "regular" is a phrase used by old folk to mean your bowels are functioning and you are having a poo regularly.
A common solution if you weren't pooing regularly was to eat prunes.

A play on the word "regularity" in your thread title.

I think.

Quite right. At least you understand me; even though that may not be much comfort to you. wink

Without getting into too much detail, I am more inclined the other way (as it were). Needing the opposite of prunes biggrin

Oooh, I get it now.

Forgive me, English is not my first language biggrin

And if you care enough, I finished among the first 100 participantspaperbag

I blame it on the co driver.

Co driver:"You were supposed to turn back there!!"
Me: "And why didn't you tell me so??????"
Co Driver: "Erm..."

Regularity is much harder than it first appears.
Yes, it's mainly down to the navigator, who will be especially tested on events with secret controls.
Persevere though.

You can still use prunes, just reverse the eating / despatch procedure

My tip would be find some travel sickness pills. Its amazing how many people say they don't get travel sick and then find looking up and down at road/map quickly induces sickness. Luckily I've not had a nav do it to me but I have seen many a car lose time etc while the nav sorts himself out!
