I'm wondering how other IAM or Rospa groups are doing.

I'm in the Worcestershire group of the IAM, since the IAMs cock ups over subs (raising them to penalise their membership for the IAMs own stupidity), and increase in course charges, its absolutely dead here.

I was told today that we've only had one person join since the price hike, and we have loads of observers sitting around with no candidates, as weve absolutely no waiting list.

Is it just us, or are any other groups finding things quiet ?

I'm in an IAM group in South Yorkshire and supprisingly we are having a good year so far.

The main issue we seem to be having at the moment is people signing up as associates and then not even attending, think we have about 5 or 6 people who have paid but never attended, though I know the Group Chairman will be chasing them soon to find out what they are doing.

About 75% of our observers are on one-to-one now and the remaining few are taking up th slack from if one of us who is on one-to-one cannot attend, we have any new associates etc. So far we seem to be getting one or two new faces every fortnight and quite a few people enquiring.

Local group in West Norfolk has folded, well, not folded but joined with the Norwich group, this I would say is down to the perception of the group here, also some internal politics, and a poor standard of riding shown by some members. It was also too easy for peeps to become observers, they could not observe there way out of a paper bag with holes in it, so I think there are newcomers out there, wanting to learn, but it is how to catch them, its certainly not by growin a beard and handing out dayglo belts!!!!!

Our group has 12 associates waiting for an observer to become available. 3 of the observers are each assisting 2 associates in their preparation and 2 observers have 3 associates. We had a rush of candidates in April to beat the £40 increase in cost.
