I am thinking of installing a small camera in my car to record various trips I do when I am out and about enjoying the roads.

I intend to use the footage as a practice aid for myself, so I can watch it back to (hopefully) learn from mistakes I have made etc.

Camera isn't going to be anything amazing, probably a mobile phone camera set to record video sellotaped to the dashboard. Is this a worthwile approach to aid perfecting driving, or just plain sad? Discuss!

Very interesting results there... probably a bit too expensive for my needs.

sounds like a good idea to me, would also be good for insurance evidence in the even of an accident (assuming its not your fault)

Well I tried recording my drive thismorning, and... I think I need to invest in some proper equipment if I want to record my drives - Mobile phone recording quality isn't the best.

Still found myself watching over 2 hours of myself driving though. Sad or what? wink

The one downside - be careful that the police dont ask to see the tapes and use any video of "errors" you make as evidence.......

I have a camera mounted in my bumper hooked up to my CarPC. (I use a touchscreen interface for music, gauges, gps etc) It's recording constantly so I always have video recording.

I use it for the obligatory tracks days etc, but also as a little bit of insurance for numpty drivers. (Although typically I had it down for maintenance when the old chap came the wrong way around the roundabout)

Yes it might be a record of breaking the law sometimes, but I don't have a speed overlay on it and I encrypt the video as well after its been encoded. Unless someone wants to use RIPA against me I'm quite safe.
