What would be the cost of entry to the HPC?
Having read their website, i may enjoy following into this after IAM
I understand that there are two 'gate keepers', what cost would it require to go through either of them?

The cost of the entry course is about £1000 for the gatekeepers. However, be aware that you don't just turn up, pay the £1000, do the 2.5 days and voila. The gatekeepers won't let you take the course unless there's a realistic possibility of you reaching the required standard for the Club (standards are at http://www.hpc.org.uk/standards), so after the first 1/2 day they may recommend you go away and do further practice before trying the final 2 days.

There are alternatives - to differing levels at differing costs -

A day at RideDrive (seems well recommended)
http://www.ridedrive.co.uk/shop-high-performance.h...

or IAM Special Assessment - will require input from your Group Examiner or
other friendly PC1.
The latter will require commentary to a high standard.

There are, I just haven't had time to update the HPC site with all their contact details. I will do so tonight.

Not if you work out the hourly rate of the instructor and the hire cost for the off-road facilities...

It's not as cheap as IAM or RoADAR, but they are groups of (sometimes) gifted amateurs rather than professionals. If they charged a market rate, the courses would be somewhat expensive too.

Well tell biogs to hurry up then. There are people here with cheque books straining at the leash. smile

Best wishes all,
Dave.

For enthusiasts who cannot afford it luckily there are lots of subsidised ways of getting help to improve your driving (IAM, Rospa, ADUK, ClubDriving). But many folk think nothing of spending £1,500 'upgrading' their car, or perhaps going on track days, and then complain that paying a well-known expert the same amount to help them improve their driving for life is expensive.

No, 'cos I'm a poor OAP y'see - plus the minor detail that I don't think I'm into that kind of thing sufficiently.

I suppose that's recognising that I'm not sure I'd make the grade - well not without making rather more of an effort than I'm willing to make - but reaching that level is not important to me anyhow, fortunately.

To be honest I think the £1000 is perhaps a fair and justifiable price for those who are keen enough, but I wouldn't spend it.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

While I'm waiting for the gatekeepers to send me finely created biographies, I've put up their contact details, should you be so enthused. They're at http://www.hpc.org.uk/guestjoin.html

I'm trying to get dates for my Master Driver's Course with Cadence at the moment.

Despite the recession, Millbrook seems to be fully booked until July!

What does anyone know about Prodrive's proving ground in Warwickshire?
