Pedestrians don't tend to take much notice of lane markings, so i always signal in a right/left lane (but then i always always signal anyway).

Yes if it would be helpful. Like anywhere else.

yes

...and I'd cancel once I stopped being either end of the queue

I agree, though I probebly wouldn't cancel in the queue. What advantage does this give?

People behind wouldn't appreciate your bright flashing light?

Yes, for peds, and for anyone else for whom it might be of use. Other traffic might not realise the lane is for right turn only.

Only the ends of the queue inform, flashing in the middle only annoys...

I use an urban dual carraigeway everyday with a simple crossroads at the end regulated by traffic lights without filters, the right hand lane has right turn only marking in the road but that isn't obvious from the other side of the junction sometimes the traffic coming through from the otherside slows to a trickle and I find that if the car in front of me waiting to turn right isn't indicating the cars coming through make no attempt to allow him/her to make their turn then more often than not both drivers give each other the evil eye and sometimes the coffee beans, the person not indicating thinking "I'm in the right turn only lane I don't need to indicate", either that or they just just can't be bothered indicating anyway.

Either you are stationary and the pedestrian walking into your car needs glasses. Or you are moving and they were hit by the car in front of you who was that the front of the queue..... wink

...Or the vehicle in front turns right, the peds in the new road see me coming, and as I'm not signaling, assume I'm going straight on and start to cross to go behind the vehicle in front of me. .

...Or numpty behind see's me cancel my signal when he arrives behind me and thinks I've changed my mind and does something silly like try to come up on my offside.

I'm always careful not to dazzle people with brakelights when in a queue, but I don't see the benefit in cancelling a signal, unless its dark and I'm likely to be there for some time.

You signal again before you move off, if there's someone to benefit?

Or you just do it your way. AD discussions on signalling even do my head in.

Hmmm, it just seems a little untidy, signalling then cancelling, then signalling again.

I'm not looking for an argument by the way, just other peoples thoughts as it's not something i'd previously thought about. I am keeping an open mind though, I think I'll consider it during my next few drives and see how things fit in the real world.

I agree, stuff like this can do your head in. It's very easy to get very anoraky on the subject!

I do it for emphasis, particularly if I'm at the back of the queue, otherwise cancel/don't bother.

I'll also consciously not indicate if I'm turning left and suspect it would encourage oncoming traffic turning right, not to wait for me to complete before they turn.

Fine as long as you have been making regular checks of the N/S mirror. Cyclists can sneek up quickly on the left side of waiting traffic.

Yeah I do most of the time. If I'm unsure of whether I should I tend to indicate to be on the safe side as I never know who might be around.

if there's nobody about
Leave it out.

As for doing things then cancelling them and then doing them again... If its raining and im stationary at the lights i even drop the wipers to intermitant before upping them again when i prepare to move off
