I've got a Skid pan session coming up in March at Millbroke (sp). What sort of thing can I expect?

Will I do it on my own or will there be other "students" there to?
What cars to I drive?

etc. Cheers smile.

Hi

Best speak to the course provider. Why are you doing the course? Is it to be able to control the car once it is sliding or is it to discover just how scary that can be? I used to teach skid awareness at Goodwood, so if you want more advice please get in touch.

Hope this helps

Best regards

Well I've been meaning to for a while now. I had a blowout which sent the car sideways and I think really down to luck I caught it and all was well. Ever since then i've meant to get one booked up so that if I ever get into a slide again I'll atleast have a clue on what to do about it. Also, it does look quite fun. So yes it's to be able to control it when its sliding.

If you're going to Millbrook (i.e. the GM proving ground outside Bedford) then it doesn't have a skid pan. It has a dry (although it can be wetted) steering pad and they use skidcar (cars on frames that can be jacked up on castors to simulate loss of traction).

When I was last there a month or so back, they had a Vectra/Astra (sorry GM products look all the same to me) on some frames and a Monaro on one.

How did you find the course and did you enjoy it?

Hey Dave, I'm thinking about taking the Cadence master course and notice the first day involves skid pan work, where do you do this if it isn't Millbrook?

Thanks.

Skid pan is day two, not one and we use Lincolnshire Police's pan...

...distressing close to Scampton - I was holding a lovely slide there when the Red Arrows broke over the treeline in formation and we whirled like a top as I cooed skywards.

Does anyone have a list of low-grip skidpans that you can take your own car on? I'd love to do one of those days.

I work at Millbrook and luckily had the opportunity to do it. Is really worth doing in my opinion, not only is it really fun you will learn a lot from it. When I did it there was 3 of us plus the tutor.

Cars they have at the moment are an astra and corsa, and possibly a monaro also.
